Miraval Magic Bar

It's that time of year again—Girl Scout cookie season! One traditional favorite is the Samoa cookie, also known as the Caramel deLite. Although those scouts are cute, you may want to satisfy your cookie cravings with a healthier option this year and try a batch of Miraval's Magic Bars! To get the same great coconut-chocolate fix, our Pastry Chef Kim Macy created the Miraval Magic Bar with a fraction of the calories by substituting applesauce for butter and using reduced fat condensed milk. These simple changes reduce calories without losing the amazing flavor and texture! Enjoy!

Makes 24 Bars

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup applesauce
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 (14 oz) can low fat sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

PREHEAT oven to 350°F (325°F for glass dish). In 13×9” baking pan, melt butter in oven.

MIX applesauce and crumbs into melted butter and press into greased baking pan.

POUR sweetened condensed milk over mixture.

TOP with chocolate chips, flaked coconut, and chopped pecans in order listed, and press down firmly.

BAKE 25 minutes or until lightly browned.

COOL. Chill if desired and cut into individual squares.
