One of the best parts about summer is the opportunity to spend more time outdoors. Longer days filled with warmer weather and a sense of carefreeness harken back to that childhood feeling when schools were out, and the possibilities for fun seemed endless.
Summer gatherings in the park were always ideal for leisurely afternoons and evenings, taking in golden hour sunsets or basking under the stars. I was excited to learn about Miraval Berkshires‘ partnership with New York City Bryant Park’s Summer Yoga Series. After being on hiatus for a few years due to the pandemic, the yoga series was brought back due to popular demand, offering free classes to the public through August 24, 2022.
I was lucky enough to attend the opening night’s event at Bryant Park on May 25, and join hundreds of fellow New Yorkers, visitors, and yoga lovers for an invigorating evening of wellbeing and mindfulness. Rows and rows of yoga enthusiasts came together to stretch, feel grounded, and flow through an upbeat yoga practice led by Miraval Berkshires Specialist Shannan Hoff Weber.
Similar to how every yoga and mediations session begins at Miraval Berkshires Resort & Spa, participants start by setting an intention for their practice. I intended to be fully present and express my gratitude for reconnecting to the city’s energy and taking in all the happy faces rolling out their yoga mats, ready to move and groove to music on a perfect New York summer evening.
I was overcome with a profound sense of appreciation, witnessing hundreds of individuals move in sync through a series of yoga poses in a beautiful outdoor space. A few years ago, being a part of a gathering of this size felt impossible. And now, we have the opportunity to gather and celebrate the sheer joy of connecting with each other. That is the beauty of setting an intention and having that emotional energy flow through you as you move and stretch yourself physically. I hope anyone fortunate to be in New York City this summer will take advantage of this complimentary activity brought to you by Miraval Berkshires.
