Fall into a New Skincare Routine

8 Steps for Fall-Fresh Skin

Autumn brings cool breezes, crunchy leaf piles, and shorter days—they all nudge us to make a change. It’s time to shift from cotton to cashmere and spruce up our skincare habits to suit the climate.

Our recent event at the Miraval Austin Life in Balance Spa left our guests glowing and knowing how to strategize and simplify their routines with an EmerginC esthetician. We collected some of their expert tips for transitioning into this crisp new season.

Events may come and go, but our partnership with EmerginC has been a valuable piece of the Miraval Life in Balance Spa for 15 years. Our latest venture with them gave us these eight tips to build your own EmerginC bundle and keep your skin happy this fall.

Fall into Your New Skincare Routine

1. Prep with Probiotics

Kombucha Cleanser

Did you know that kombucha is as great for your outsides as it is for your insides? It can increase luminosity and clarity with probiotic enzymes and amino acids that work together simultaneously.

This gel cleanser has no surfactants (harsh, dehydrating, or inflammation-causing ingredients), and organic and fair-trade aloe vera and kombucha extract make it extra gentle on your eyelashes.

We use this cleanser in our Purifying Back Facial and our Pure Pressed Facial. If you love this cleanser as much as we do, make sure to book one of these treatments at the any of our three Life in Balance Spa next time you visit.

Miraval Austin Assistant Spa Manager Frankie Chamberlain says, “It’s my favorite cleanser. I got my entire family hooked on it, even the men!”

2. Tighten & Tone

Peach Toner

This super-hydrating toner adjusts your pH, evens out your skin tone, and naturally reduces redness almost instantly. It contains no synthetic fragrances, replenishes your natural moisture, and prepares you for the next step. A fresh peach scent sets the tone for happy skin.

We use the Peach Toner in our Pure Pressed Facial.

3. A Good Defense

Triple Threat Peel

Exfoliate, and you won’t regret it! This once-a-week home treatment removes the barrier of dead skin cells that cause makeup clumps and skin bumps. A variety of AHAs & BHAs resurfaces your skin gently with no downtime. An acid blend (lactic, malic, tartaric, and salicylic) combines with retinol to give you a hydrated, even glow, lighten and brighten your skin, and address any lingering summer sun damage.

It’s great for all types except for very sensitive skin.

Miraval Austin Spa Director Kayla Fournerat says she cannot get enough of this mask. “It is seriously one of the best treatment masks I have ever had in my life.”

4. A Balm for the Skin & Soul

Vitality Mask

This buttery balm duals as a moisturizer you can wear to bed. It smells like freshly sliced cucumbers and balances moisture retention, leaving your skin supple and soft. Use it one-to-three times each week or whenever you need to treat sunburn (fall’s cooler temperatures can sometimes make us forget our sunscreen).

Fun fact: when used in Miraval’s treatments, like the VitaminC Facial, Kayla recommends our estheticians use it as a facial massage medium.

5. Take Your Vitamins

Vitamin C Serum

This serum smells incredible! It was EmerginC’s first product when the company launched in 1996 to answer the demand for natural and organic products, and it has inspired every line that has emerged since. It’s still their number-one top-selling product.

It comes in two strengths: 12% or 20%. Start with 12% or if you have sensitive skin. If you’re used to it or have more resilient skin, move up to the 20%.

With this serum, less is more. Use half a pump once each day (morning or night) to lighten, tighten, and brighten with three different forms of vitamin C and bring your capillaries the oxygen they need to encourage micronutrient flow.

6. More Moisture, Please!

We couldn’t decide, so we suggested two top picks for moisture and hydration.

Raw Facial Oil

Another winner in the aroma realm, this oil brings an earthy scent. You only need half a pump; if you use a gua sha stone or jade roller, you get next-level absorption. Once it settles into your skin, it leaves an even, matte finish. Use this as needed to nourish your skin and increase blood flow to create that post-treatment glow at home.

Phytocell Cream

This is a top seller and a perfectly balanced day or night cream. Grape stem cells renew and repair epithelial skin cells in a kombucha and shea butter formulation that is rich but not too heavy. This cream absorbs to a matte finish, leaving no pills or rolls behind.

7. Double the Benefit

Eye & Lip Craft

Treat your lips and eyes in one shot with this best-selling balm. Warm up the fall flavors and colors of pumpkin, orange, and carrot seed oil with your fingertips and let it melt into a silky, hydrating cream.

This eye treatment by night and lip treatment by day smells like a fancy luxury chocolate truffle.

Cold-pressed cocoa butter shields and protects skin against environmental pollution while super-rich antioxidants combat free radicals throughout the day. Expect to see significant improvement in skin texture and tightness. It’s great for dark circles, too.

8. The Last Step

Sun SPF 30 Sunscreen

This non-chemical liquid is a treatment, primer, and sunscreen in one. It’s coral-reef-safe and doesn’t clog pores, cause breakouts, or leave a greasy film. Hyaluronic acid, goji berry extract, and vitamin C blend together for perfect absorption. And as a bonus, it doesn’t have that sunscreen-y smell. Use it every season, because we all know that even cloudy skies or blue-light screens can damage the dermis.
